These are my wheel thrown set of three projects. Each one looks different in shape, but I was going for same size and pattern. All three pieces are under four inches tall, three inches wide and bare the same pattern and color. I glazed them on the wheel with the bottle glaze and while it was spinning I took a brush and glided the brush from the center to the outside of the project. The colors I used are Candy Apple Red and Purple. This makes the pattern on the projects swirly and cool looking. One new skill I used was pulling the wall better. Instead of pulling up slowly, I pulled up quickly, so it didn't get off center easy. I used color to define lines in shapes in the detail of my work. The design element I used is contrast, by using two colors that don't go together so they stand out better. The meaning of my set of three was to show how consistent I am with my color choice and pattern with all of my projects I finished this year.
This is my wheel thrown tall project. It is exactly six inches tall, and about four inches wide. The surface is smooth, and the colors I used are shadow green and a mixture of black and white that turned out to be some sort of speckled dark blue. I glazed my project by dunking it in black only on the outside, then used a brush to coat the inside with the shadow green and the outside with white. One new skill I obtained during the creation of my project was pulling the wall good enough so I got a tall and stable product. A design element I used was unity, my colors I chose to put together, go together. The meaning of this project was to get it done and out of the way so I don't have to worry about making another tall.
This is my franken pot. It is a team project that involves a group of two or more people that make a small portion of a tall project and then they stack all of them together to make one big tall project. My partner is Hannah, and we glazed ours black and green, half and half. My new skill I learned is that you have to take your time with your projects and they will turn out better looking. The art element we used is value, we had light green mixed with black to give it that. The design elements I used are movement and scale. The meaning of this project was to show or give out a dark mood. It also shows that Hannah is a dark person.
This is my wheel thrown bowl number four. It is short and wide and it curves inward then outward. The color of my bowl is red and purple, finished off with some clear glaze. I glazed it by using a bamboo brush and bottled glaze and I spin glazed my bowl on the wheel. One new skill i learned is how to make my footing skill better and more improved. One art element I used was color. One design element I used was harmony because I tried to match all my bowls with the same pattern of colors. The importance of this project is to show theme of the same colors.
This is my wheel thrown bowl # 4 project. It is a little tall for a bowl but I think it makes it very unique. It has a smooth surface and is about six inches tall and seven to eight inches wide. I glazed it with horizontal colored stripes that glide across the surface. I learned this time that I should use a rib tool more to see if i can get a little more of a curved bowl shape to it. One of the art design elements i used is color. The colors i used are red apple, purple, and clear glaze to top it off in and out. If i could change anything about my project I would have made the sides more round.
This is my wheel thrown pulled handle cup. Its dark green on the inside and light orange and black striped on the outside. I used the skills of pulling a handle. The art element I used is color, the swirls around the cup are colorful. The mood of the cup is suppost to give out a warm mood with the light colors. If I were to change anything about my cup I would have made the handle wider and thicker.
This is my wheel thrown vase. It is half black, half clear, and shadow green in the inside. I used contrast and design art elements to improve the overall look of the vase. I used the art skills of choking and pattern. I gave it a spring feeling. The mood is warm. I tried a new footing skill or tecknique this time. If I would do anything differently I would have made it a little bit bigger
